Have you or someone you love suffered from Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS)? If so, did you know that vaccines like that taken for the Flu, Meningitis, and DTP have been strongly associated with this condition? If your signs and symptoms occurred shortly after a vaccination, and if your physician has been unable to explain the reason for your injuries, a vaccine may be the cause of your GBS.

What is Guillain-Barré Syndrome?
Guillain-Barré syndrome is a disorder in which the body’s immune system attacks part of the peripheral nervous system. The first symptoms include varying degrees of weakness or tingling sensations in the legs which gradually spread to the arms and upper body. These symptoms can increase in intensity until the patient is almost totally paralyzed. In these cases, the disorder is life-threatening and considered a medical emergency.
Can Meningitis Vaccines Cause GBS?
In October 2009, the FDA and CDC reported they were investigating five reports of GBS in individuals who had taken a new vaccine for meningitis called Menactra.
The Vaccine / GBS connection: too serious to be ignored
The number of GBS cases linked to vaccines so far may be coincidental, but the correlation calls for immediate attention. The FDA and CDC have asked the public and healthcare providers to inform them about any links between GBS and vaccines.
